My first take on the Windows 8 interface? I like it.
My immediate fear is that the transition from the tiled interface (let’s just call it Metro from now on, shall we?) to the standard classic interface will be too jarring. Everything looks all fluid and wonderful until you fire up Excel and are thrown back to the old school style. I like the ability to run the new applications alongside the classic ones, but the two interfaces look so disconnected.
My other major question is if the new Metro interface is indeed the standard, how does a traditional mouse and keyboard interact with it? Or is a Magic Touchpad from Microsoft Hardware in our future as well?
